BRAD Update

What changed and why
BRAD, the Banish Recycling and Diversion program, has grown from a backyard sorting project into a national program processing thousands of hard-to-recycle parcels every month. To keep it running sustainably we moved to pre-paid BRAD collections and pre-paid Sydney drop-offs, so every box covers its own postage and processing instead of being subsidised out of general Banish trading. This page is where we keep the practical updates: pricing, what we're accepting, where to drop off and any seasonal pauses.
BRAD in 2026: current status
- Pre-paid BRAD collections: active. Order a box online, fill it with accepted items, post or arrange courier collection using the included label.
- Sydney drop-offs: active at the Banish Sustainability Hub, Shop 19, 2 Lee St Haymarket NSW 2000 (Gadigal Land, Railway Square exit, Central Station). Open 9am to 5pm. Book your pre-paid drop-off online or pay in-store on arrival.
- Accepted items: blister packs, toothbrushes and oral care, cosmetics and beauty packaging, pens and markers, coffee pods (including Nespresso). Full accepted list lives on the BRAD recycling program page.
- Not accepted: e-waste, phones, tablets, chargers, cables, fairy lights and batteries of any kind. Use B-cycle for all batteries and Officeworks Bring It Back for cables, chargers and fairy lights.
- Processing time: sorting usually four to six weeks after arrival at our Sydney warehouse, then onward to specialist recyclers on their own schedule.
- Community groups, schools and workplaces: still welcome. Email brad@banish.com.au with your volume and we'll match you to the right kit.
How pre-paid BRAD collections work
- Buy a BRAD pre-paid collection from the Banish shop.
- Complete the form we email you so we know what's coming.
- A BRADie sends your postage-paid label, either for a home pickup or for a drop into any red Australia Post box.
- Your parcel is tracked all the way back to our warehouse. We sort it and route each material stream to its specialist recycler.
Sydney drop-offs at the Sustainability Hub
Sydney locals can drop off in person, 9am to 5pm. Book a pre-paid drop-off online or pay in-store and receive a $10 Banish voucher to use any time. Drop-offs see higher contamination than postal kits, so please double-check what BRAD accepts before you head over.
