Meet the team

Lottie, Founder & Director
What's your favourite part of your job?
I love that no two days are ever the same but my favourite part would have to be getting out in communities educating and talking to people about how they can reduce their waste, recycle better and be a more conscious consumer.
What's your favourite sustainable swap?
How long is a piece of string? If I had to choose one product, right now it would be a compost bin. Composting was something as an apartment dweller I never thought possible but once I started, it made the biggest impact on reducing my landfill bin. This compost bin also looks great on my kitchen bench and is a great conversation starter.
What is something that you wish everyone knew about sustainable living?
Don't compare yourself to anyone else. We're all on our own journeys and we're all doing our best. It's a marathon not a sprint, just keep going!

Tony, Product Designer
In your own words, what does your role at Banish entail?
At Banish, my job is to turn people’s trash into treasure! I design and create products using the bottle top lids sent to us from all over Australia through the BRAD program. This includes making colourful recycled plastic sheets ready to be CNC’d into new products, as well as developing moulds for our injection moulding machines. It’s all about transforming waste into something meaningful and useful.
What’s your favourite part of your Job?
My favourite part of the job is seeing waste transformed into something both practical and good-looking. There’s something really rewarding about turning everyday trash into products people are proud to use. I also love seeing people’s reactions when they realise it’s made from things they’d normally toss in the bin - it always sparks surprise and curiosity.
What’s your favourite sustainable swap?
My favourite sustainable swap is shopping second-hand. Op shops are full of hidden gems, and buying pre-loved clothing means giving clothing a second life instead of sending it to landfill.
What’s something you wish everyone knew about sustainable living?
I wish more people knew that sustainable living doesn’t have to be complicated or time-consuming. Small changes—like shopping second-hand or using a reusable coffee cup—can make a real impact. It’s not about being perfect, but about doing your best to make thoughtful, sustainable choices whenever you can.
Hannah, Marketing & Social Media Specialist
In your own words, what does your role at Banish entail?
I work on all things marketing at Banish! I create content for and manage Banish’s social media accounts, assist with email marketing and create marketing collateral. I’m also the voice of Churn Tuesday! I also support Lottie and the team with running our educational workshops and activations for corporate groups, schools and communities.
What’s your favourite part of your job?
My favourite part of my job is being able to connect with so many people in our community with a shared passion for protecting the planet. It can be hard sometimes to feel hopeful about the state of the environment, especially with the doom and gloom we see in the headlines, but this community truly inspires me and keeps me going. It’s an honour to be able to share sustainable living tips, recycling information and good news, learn from them and reach even more people across Australia and the globe who care about the same things.
What’s your favourite sustainable swap?
My favourite sustainable swap is definitely my reusable coffee cup, I have a great one from Project Pargo. I use it for just about everything - coffee, hot chocolate, matcha, even miso soup! It’s so handy, and a well-insulated one keeps my drinks hot/cold for way longer, which is excellent as I have tendency to forget about them. It also feels great taking one to the coffee shop and knowing you’re doing your part!
What is something you wish everyone knew about sustainable living?
I wish everyone knew that the small, sustainable changes you make in your day-to-day life really do add up and are making a difference for our planet. Your actions inspire others, and create a ripple effect of change. Plus, there are millions of other people around the world who care just as much as you do, and are making impacts in their own communities too. Focus on what you can control, and don’t give up!
Jessica, Banish Enviro Educator
In your own words, what does your role at Banish entail?
Although I am able to wear many hats at the Banish Hub, my main two roles involve working on Banish's education programs. One role involves being hands on as a workshop facilitator, meaning I am helping to show everyday Australians how to be more sustainable in fun and practical ways. The other role is more digital, as I am helping to bring our online School's education program to life. I'm so excited to help provide the tools for teachers to use to show the next generation of Young Australian how to take action and make more sustainable choices!
What’s your favourite part of your job?
Being in the hub and talking to people from all walks of life - whether they are someone just stopping by to browse our recycled products, someone dropping off their recycling at the drop off station, or even our amazing volunteers on our sorting days - it's a privilege to hear about all the different ways people are trying to make a difference in the world. It helps keep me feeling hopeful for the future!
What’s your favourite sustainable swap?
It's so hard to choose just one! The one I found the easiest to swap and never looked back on was my reusable drink bottle. Coming prepared with my own drink bottle has helped stop me from buying single use plastic bottles and wasting my money on things like bottled water that I can just get from a tap for free! Plus that bottle has been everywhere and seen it all! - It's my emotional support drink bottle now. I feel lost without it!
What is something you wish everyone knew about sustainable living?
Sustainable living is a choice and it does require effort to achieve. But the amount of effort required to start making a difference is so small! My favourite word to associate with sustainability is "Try" - if you at least try to make the effort and try to make small changes, it all adds up. You can make such a big difference if you just try!

Lore, Customer Service and Lottie's EA
In your own words what does your role at Banish entail?
I am Lottie's assistant and customer service guru. I am responsible for any admin tasks that Lottie needs help with, from managing emails, adding and editing content on our website to helping with any customer service questions! My role is to help everything run smoothly, aka a little bit of everything!
What's your favourite part of your job?
My favourite part of my job is answering all of the customer service emails. Aside from helping customers with their concerns, I also get to learn so many new things about recycling and sustainable living that I can apply in my daily life!
What's your favourite sustainable swap?
My favourite sustainable swap is a reusable waterbottle. I am an outdoorsy person, I love trekking and travelling so it's a go-to for me :)
What is something that you wish everyone knew about sustainable living?
One crucial aspect of sustainable living that I wish everyone knew is the cumulative impact of small, everyday choices. Sustainable living isn't just about big, dramatic changes; it's about the collective effect of millions of individuals making mindful choices.
