B Corp: What it means to be a truly sustainable business

Certified B Corporations are a new kind of business that balance purpose and profit. B Corps, make decisions that make a positive impact across their workers, customers, suppliers, community, and the environment. They are leading the way in using business as a force for good. In this episode, hosted by Lottie Dalziel, we chat to Andrew Davies, CEO of B LAB, about what being B Corp certified business is all about.

For Andrew something is sustainable if it can continue happening without having a cost on someone or something else. To date, the Australian and New Zealand communities include over 3,500 B Corps in 70 countries and 150 industries, over 8,000 benefit corporations, and more than 100,000 companies manage their impact with the B Impact Assessment and the SDG Action Manager. Their regional focus is to improve the culture and practice of business, so that the economy builds community and regenerates the environment.

There are more B Corp businesses in Australia per capita than anywhere in the rest of the world. But how do you measure sustainability across such diverse companies, from building companies, to fashion labels, and toilet paper brands? Listen to the podcast to find out more.
