How to do a BRAD drop-off
Share
Here is a step-by-step guide on exactly how a BRAD drop-off at the Banish sustainability hub works.
If you’re in and around Sydney come and visit us! Be a part of the process and witness what we’re doing, recycling the ugly ducklings of the waste industry at Central station. Our BRAD Drop-off system is simple, easy, and fun! We look forward to seeing you very soon.
1. Get collecting
First things first you need to have some things ready for recycling. Start squirreling away those hard to recycle items, check out the full list of what we do and don’t accept here. We find people have a box under the kitchen sink or on top of the fridge! Once it’s full or reached 2 kilos it is go time! Box up your recycling or pop it into a reusable bag and let’s get recycling.
2. Purchase your drop-off before you arrive! Optional
To make the process super speedy you can purchase your drop-off ahead of time! Once you have completed the check out please make a note of the order number (starting with 12*****) so that our friendly staff can check it off in the system. Don’t worry if you can’t find your order number we can look it up. Alternatively pay in store when you arrive!
Hold up why do I have to pay? Good question. The items that we recycle are really difficult to recycle they require extra processing to transform them into new things, examples here. The BRAD drop off cost is $10 per 2 kilos.
@banish.au These are 6 of the most common things that people send us that we do not accept. Pretty please do not include these in your next box ♻️ ##banish##brad##recycling##recycle ♬ Confidence (sped up version) - Ocean Alley
3. Head to the hub!
We’re located at Sydney’s Central Station, 490 Pitt street Haymarket. Accessible by train, metro, light rail and bus! For a full explainer on how to get to us check out this post.
Opening hours: Tuesday to Friday 9-5 pm and until 6pm on Thursdays!
4. At the hub
You’ve arrived! Welcome! Let one of our team know that you’re here to do a BRAD drop-off. Firstly we will weigh your drop off. This helps us measure our impact and is an important part of our reporting. If you have time we’d love your help sorting through your recycling. We will open up your collection and divide it into each different streams. This also helps us answer any recycling questions that you might have and we can catch any contamination (which is normal! So don’t worry if yours isn’t perfect) Each stream will be sent off to different Australian micro-recyclers. If you don’t have time don’t worry you can drop and run!
Done! For every 2kg drop off you will receive a $10 voucher which you can spend inshore or online or even put towards your next drop off, minimum spend of $50.
