Supplier Stories: How Sabbia Co are wiping out single-use makeup wipes

By Lottie Dalziel

Katie Eales and Dave Tingle were inspired to transform their lives after they witnessed the sheer quantity of plastic washing up on beaches overseas. After what would become a lifechanging trip they set out to create Sabbia Co. Their aim with Sabbia Co is to "help consumers have minimal impact on the environment." How they're doing this? "By making sustainable choices simple. effective and affordable."

Katie explains "our mission is to turn consumers skin/beauty routines into rituals using reusable skincare tools to eliminate single-use consumerism. Because our mission is to keep the water going down the drain and out to our oceans as "green" as possible."

Launching in September 2019, Sabbia Co is proud to announce that in their first 11 months of business through the use of their reusable makeup wipes they have stopped roughly 7 million single-use makeup wipes from being brought and ending up in landfill (and counting).

"Many cosmetics and skincare items are manufactured with over 10,500 unique chemical ingredients. Some are known carcinogens and either toxic to the reproductive system or known to disrupt the endocrine system. It's not necessary and it's slowly killing our planet."

A personal favourite of Katie's is their konjac sponges, "my skin has never looked and felt better by simply using these tools and water."
