How plastic bottle top lids are recycled

How plastic bottle top lids are recycled

I can't quite believe it but I'm here to officially unveil our second closed-loop product!

As you have probably seen on Instagram our amazing team of volunteers have been busy sorting your household lids and soy sauce fishies. Then we've been putting our back into it (quite literally) making our next brand new product.

Step 1

We receive your bottle top lids and soy sauce fishies in your BRAD parcels.

Step 2

They are sorted by the colour and type of plastic by our volunteers. This means when we make products with them they have greater integrity, can be recycled at the end of their life and keep those funky and vibrant colours.

Step 3

Our lids and all cleaned and dried and then we shred them using our shredder. We've been able to increase our shredding capacity and are excited to be able to offer the shreds to other mirco-recylers, artists and school groups.

Step 4

For the shreds that are left we then transform them into lots of different products at the sustainability hub. The most popular item is our refillable pens.

Watch the full process

Every Tuesday we share the process on Instagram - it's called Churn Tuesday! Guess the colour we're going to create and find out more about how each pen is unique and made with a whole lotta love. Watch now

This Refillable Pen is designed to be used over and over again. Say goodbye to disposable pens that end up in landfills – this pen is built to last. When the ink runs dry, simply refill it with our refill ink cartridges and keep the sustainability cycle going.
